Environmental Initiatives

A rich environment and various economic activities are essential to realization of our wholesome lifestyles. This is why we need to achieve sustainable economic development in which preservation of the Earth’s environment and economic activities coexist. Using resources effectively and implementing waste material reduction, reuse, and recycling to promote creation of a recycling-based society are indispensable in efforts undertaken to appropriately respond to global environmental issues such as environmental pollution and depletion of various resources. We recognize environmental problems as important issues for management. We seek to balance economic reasonableness and contributions to the preservation of the Earth’s environment in all our corporate activities.

Measures concerning Gogo (= Legal) Wood

We have acquired certification from the Japan Lumber Importers’ Association under an industry certification program pursuant to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Guideline for Verification on Legality and Sustainability of Wood and Wood Products.

Forest certification system and chain of custody system

We have obtained certification as a logistics company of our chain of custody system from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and under the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC).
We are working to expand the use in Japan of lumber from suppliers that have obtained certification under forest certification systems.
