Stable supply of lumber from around the world
In the past, lumber products were mainly imported from the United States and Canada, but since the 1970s, logging and exports of lumber have been regulated in Southeast Asia and North America, and now lumber products are mainly imported from Europe. Therefore, accurately identifying the ever-changing global supply and demand enables us to provide a stable supply of lumber products from all over the world.
Providing environmentally friendly domestic lumber
As part of our efforts to promote local production for local consumption, we are strengthening our dealings in domestic lumber. Japan is one of the most forested countries in the world, with 66.3% of its land area covered by forests. Approximately 40% of these forests are planted forests, and many of the planted forests planted after World War II have reached the stage of full-scale use. Forests are closely related to our everyday lives, such as preventing landslides and global warming, but if left uncared for, they can cause a variety of harmful effects.
In order to grow healthy forests and make effective use of ever-increasing forest resources, we are increasing our volume of domestic lumber and strengthening our supply system.
Proposals for pre-cutting of conventional wooden houses
Pre-cutting is a technology that uses machines to process the wood parts (columns, beams, foundations, etc.) of detached wooden houses. Using machines to do what carpenters used to do with hand tools ensures high precision and high strength. In addition, the construction period for the structural materials for a house with an area of around 100m2 can be shortened from 20 days by one worker to just one day, leading to significant cost reductions.
In collaboration with other companies in the industry, we have established the company Wood Station to handle large-sized panels that are integrally manufactured in a factory, from erection to sash installation, to reduce the time and labor required by workers, reduce the burden of construction management, and shorten the construction period, thereby promoting DX at housing sites.
In addition, we have a network of pre-cut factories throughout Japan, and we can supply pre-cut materials quickly by utilizing this network. We can also provide a pre-cut supply of prefectural-specific lumber upon request.
